What do I know about cybersafety? Cybersafety is about being safe on the internet, not giving out personal information out to people you don’t know online, Have I presented material about cybersafety before? No I haven’t done this kind of thing before this is my very first time Do I understand what I have to do? Is there anything I don’t understand about this activity? I do understand what i have to do in this assignment i may need a few helps from people. What skills and knowledge will I be using? GIMP importing image, GIMP adding border, rotating, clear cutting, scaling, cropping, rotating and resizing my image, fuzzy select, and working with layers
Identify What is the task?
What do I want to accomplish in creating a poster? How do I want to interest others in my topic? Do I want to present an informative poster that can be used as a reference? Do I want to present a warning poster that alerts people to danger? Or some combination of those goals? I want my poster to be an informative poster that could stand out to people who use online chatting so they know what’s going to happen if they don’t watch out. I want my poster to have enough colour, statements, and pictures so it can get alot of attention. What do I need in order to do this? What materials do I have? What resources do I need? Should I do more research on cybersafety? Im doing my poster on GIMP so i need to get use to using GIMP alot and it will become easy. I may need some researching on cybersafety. Who will be looking at this work? How can I appeal to other students? I am expecting students from an age of 11 to 15 to look at my poster, so i need to make my poster look appealing with colours, pictures and words so students understand what my poster is about. Are there examples of cybersafety posters or materials that I can look at? Yes i looked at some examples that students did, Ms Beadle showed us some in DLL class so i got some ideas on what i am expecting. What are the obstacles? What problems may happen? some problems may contain laptop crashing problems so i need to back up my work on a USB stick, also problems like not saving my work or losing my work that is saved to a file that is lost. Can I draw a diagram that will help me to visualise my work? Draw some rough ideas for posters. Yes i can rough draft so i have some ideas that can be on my poster.
Generate How many ideas can I think of?
List as many ideas as possible. What aspects of cybersafety interest me? What would I want to see on a poster? I would want a picture of my phone, a person sitting on a computer looking at a mean comment that was sent by an unknown, group of friends smiling. Consider the advantages and disadvantages of each idea. Having a phone on my poster can be an advantage because most people get cyber bullied by texting. Getting sent mean and rude texts from randoms, and also a person sitting at a computer looking at a mean comment is also an advantage because alot of teenagers go on chat rooms and meet new people, even the nicest looking person could be mean or a stalker. Are there any other subjects to consider? What resources (books, websites, etc.) have I been provided with? I used Google for researching cyber bullying What do other people think about this? Do others think I have a good idea?
Decide Which is the best idea?
Which are the best ideas? Prioritise the 3-5 best ideas. My best ideas is having a picture of my phone, a stop sign, and a person sitting in front of a computer reading a mean comment she just got, group of friends smiling, plus some words/ sentences. Explain your reasons for choosing these. What are the arguments for and against each idea? I came up with an idea having a phone on my poster because people these days mostly get cyber bullied by getting texts messages from unknowns that make them feel really scared. Second i also agree on having a picture of a group of friends smiling because my poster is meant to be cyber SAFETY, if we be safe online then we won’t be having as much problems so we will be smiling and being happy. Which idea is the best one for completing the task? Which idea is best for accomplishing my goal? I personally think my phone idea and a picture of a group of friends smiling and a stop sign. What is my plan? What are the steps to follow?
Part Two – Implementing and Evaluating
TASC Process
Questions to consider
Implement Let’s do it!
Am I making progress through the plan? Yes i am making progess but i did use some of my ideas but not all Am I doing this correctly? You may need to review your goal for this activity. i am hoping i am doing it correctly
Do I need to revise my plan? As you continue, you may discover facts that require changing the plan. I do need to revise my plan throughout the assessment but not much plan have been changed
Am I satisfied with the text/graphics/pictures that I have created? yes
Evaluate How well did I do?
Did I complete the task as originally set out? Did I solve the problem? Is the text as interesting or informative as intended? I think i did pretty well on my texts Are the graphics and images appealing? I did my images pretty big so people can see but i didn’t use as much pictures/ What have I done really well? Is there anything that stands out as particularly good? I like my phone and my background because i used alot of effects on my background using other colours and patterns. Is there anything that needs improvement? Should I go back and redo anything? I think i should of used more pictures and words so the poster tells people more detail on what this poster is about. Am I ready to communicate my ideas or show/display my work to others? Is the poster ready to be shown to others? Yes i am happy with my poster and ready to explain and show what my poster is about.
Communicate Let’s tell someone!
Who can I tell? Who is my audience? To young people fro, the age of 11-15, or to people who use chat rooms alot What is the best way to present this to my audience? Telling the audience How do I interest other students in my particular subject? Telling more about cybersafety Did I include the right text/graphics/images to inform and appeal to other students? Yes i made my text big so my audience can see and made my images big enough.
Learn from experience What have I learned?
If I had to start this activity all over again, how would I improve my performance? Would I change my work habits? Would I use a different subject or different design? Would I only make small changes? If i had to start all over again i would put more words and just a little more pictures in so people have more to look at. I would use just a less of colour How have I improved since that last time I worked on a similar task? This is my first time doing this and i think i did a pretty good job Have I learned anything about my subject or about appealing to others or about presenting information? I have learnt how to use GIMP and also learnt how to put things together How has my thinking changed as a result of this work? When it was complete and looked at it i thought of how better i could do next time What skills have I learned and developed? I developed how to use GIMP objects because i never use this kind of software before Can these skills be applied to other subjects/activities? Yes it can be applied to future assessments that i may need to use throughout this year What problems did I have to solve? Were there obstacles in developing ideas, researching material, or presenting the material? How were they overcome? I had problems on doing the border then i figured out that there was a tutorial that i could look at. How did I use the strengths of others to help me? Asking people?
